RESTUMPING:
Restumping of a house involves the rectification of the foundations of a house that are built on stumps. The process is undertaken when the existing stumps are rotting or have cracked. The contractor will jack up the house and replace the old stumps which are typically timber, with new stumps which are usually made of concrete, for longer lasting durability. Houses prior to the 1960's were built on timber stumps and are likely to need restumping at some point. Weatherboard houses can need relevelling and restumping as well as brick veneer houses. The foundations are one of the most important elements of the structure of the house and usually needs to be addressed and rectified where necessary before undertaking any other work or renovations.

To rectify this, considerable digging around the area is required, the exiting slab is then supported by jacks and concrete is poured underneath to provide fresh support.
